PESHAWAR, 3 June: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has rejected the bail application of an accused who shared fake pictures of a female member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on social media website Facebook and sent him back to the jail.

Aminur Rehman, lawyer of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA, told the court during the hearing that the accused Tahir is a retired Major who belongs to Nowshera. He said the accused posted fake pictures of the lawmaker on Facebook in an unethical manner. He said the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided the house of the accused and confiscated computer and other equipment.

Arshid Hussain Yousafzai, lawyer of the accused, said allegations against his client were baseless, therefore, he should be released on bail.

The court after hearing arguments from both sides rejected the bail application of the accused.
