PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has stayed fresh election of local government on 365 polling stations to be held on July 5 in a number of districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As many as 25 winning candidates, including advisor to chief minister Zahid Durrani, filed cases against the fresh polls, taking the plea that it was unlawful.

The court ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) not to conduct by election and asked it to submit reply within two weeks. The ECP and provincial government claimed that they have completed preparations for the fresh polls.
