PESHAWAR, 22 October: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday directed the Foreign Office to immediately send wheat stock to the conflict affected Kunduz city of Afghanistan.

According to a statement of the Prime Minister House, there was extreme food shortage in Kunduz city after occupation of the city by the Taliban militants and subsequent clashes. On the prime minister’s direction, a plane will carry wheat for the people of Kunduz city.

The statement said the measure has been taken as a goodwill gesture from the people and government of Pakistan for the people in distress in Kunduz after several days of conflict.
