PESHAWAR, 26 April: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won most number of seats in the local bodies elections in cantonment boards in Pakistan.

According to unofficial results, the PML-N candidates have won from 68 wards. The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has secured second position with 42 seats. However, the PTI has taken first position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with victory in 12 wards.

Fifty-five independent candidates have also secured victory in the cantonment board local bodies polls.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has got 17 seats, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) secured victory on seven seats, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) grabbed five seats, Awami National Party (ANP) got two and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) got one seat.

Elections were held in 199 wards of 42 cantonment boards in the country yesterday. More than 1,300 polling stations were established for the elections.
