QUETTA, 15 November: Police brutally manhandled and baton charged physically handicapped persons who were protesting in Hockey Square for their demands here the other day.

The disabled persons were holding demonstration for their demands including implementation of disabled persons’ quota in government services and special package for them.

Official sources told this correspondent that police dragged the disabled protesters to clear the route for a judge of the Balochistan High Court passing from there.

A protester told TNN that six of their colleagues were injured by the police. He added that they were tortured for no reason. “We were protesting for our demands to press the government accept our demands, but the government did not pay heed to our problems,” he added.

“We want the government should implement disable quota in government services, provide modified motorcycles and laptops and announce special package for the disabled persons. But SP Zahid Shah tortured our colleagues by dragging them on the road. About six of our colleagues were injured. The senior police cop slapped, our president and other members of the cabinet,” he maintained.

Later, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Wahid Kakar held negotiations with the disabled persons after which they called off their protest and dispersed.
