PESHAWAR, November 13: Unidentified gunmen have killed a policeman in the provincial capital Peshawar.
The police say they raided a house where one of the masterminds of the DI Khan jailbreak was hiding but the inmates opened fire, killing Elite Force personnel Mr Fakhar Alam and injuring seven others.
In retaliatory fire, the police also shot dead two of the armed men.
Several incidents of violence and target killings have taken place in the precinct of Agha Mir Jani Police Station in Peshawar city and the area is considered insecure compared to other localities of the provincial metropolis.
PPP leader killed in Swat
In separate incident, unidentified armed men have killed a former general district secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party, Mr Fazal Hayat.
After the incident, the security forces clamped curfew in the area and stated a search operation. However, no arrest was made till the filing of this report.
The incidents of target killing have increased in Swat district during the last several months.
