PESHAWAR, 23 November: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has directed the relevant officials to impart proper training to polio workers so that their efficiency in eradicating the crippling disease could be improved.

 

Chairing a high level meeting regarding polio situation here on Monday the governor said all available resources should be utilized to eliminate polio from the country.

 

He directed that effective procedure should be adopted to ensure the attendance of LHVs and polio workers and said that their performance should be monitored on regular basis.

The governor laid stress on international community to stop polio transmission from Afghanistan into Pakistan on Pak-Afghan border.

Governor was told during the meeting that the number of polio cases has dropped to 13 this year from 179 which was reported in 2014. The meeting was briefed that inaccessibility has also been decreased from 330618 (31 %) reported in January 2014 to 16311 (2%) in October, 2015.
