PESHAWAR, 7 November: The four-day polio vaccination campaign would be launched in FATA and Frontier Regions (FRs) on 10 November.

The Fata Secretariat said on Friday that 3,168 teams have been given the task to administer anti-polio drops to 951,308 children below the age of five years in Fata and FRs. It said strict security measures will be adopted for the anti-polio campaign in the tribal areas.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two countries in the world where polio has been categorised as endemic viral infection. Vaccination efforts were hindered in FATA and FRs in the past due to threats from militants. Now campaigns are carried out in these areas due to improved law and order after military operations in the region.
