PESHAWAR, 14 December: The political parties in FATA have decided to press their national leaders to use their influence in the National Assembly for implementation of the proposal of FATA Reforms Committee regarding merger of the tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

FATA Political Alliance president Nisar Mohmand said this while addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday.

He said more than 90 percent people of FATA want merger with KP, while some privileged people and few politicians are opposing the merger for vested interests. He said the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) is not part of the FATA Political Alliance. He said the alliance will never allow the JUI-F to impose its will upon other political parties.

“Some people want to make the reforms process controversial for personal interests. The overwhelming majority of FATA people want merger with KP and the JUI-F cannot impose its will upon the FATA people,” Nisar Mohmand said.

Political leaders, tribal elders and social activists were also present on the occasion.
