SWAT, 9 September: The picturesque Malam Jabba valley of Swat is famous for its scenic beauty and is a great tourist destination, but the poor condition of the only road leading to the area is a cause of great concern for the tourists and local people.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had allocated Rs1.5 billon for the construction of the 35-kilometre road, but the construction work has stopped due to unknown reasons.
A local resident said the road is in extremely dilapidated condition which is discouraging tourists from visiting the area.
“The tourists who once come to this area don’t come again due to poor condition of the road. The provincial government should immediately release funds for the construction of the road to end difficulties of tourists and local people,” he said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak during his visit to the area few days ago had announced immediate construction of the road.
