GHALANAI: The president of Pakistan People’s Party women wing for FATA chapter Dr Saima Khan ran election campaign and asked women in Mohmand tribal district to vote for her party during her visit to NA-42.

She ran door-to-door campaign and met with women in Mohmand tribal district where she shared manifesto of her party with them.

Dr Saima also met with the women wing president of PPP Mohmand district Musarrat Bibi and discussed strategies with her to mobilize women voters in favor of the party.

Last week Saima started her election campaign from Kurram Agency where she held corner meetings and asked women to support PPP in upcoming elections scheduled to be held on July 25.

Out of hundreds contestants from formerly FATA region, only one woman Ali Begam, who is independent candidate is contesting election from NA-46 in Kurram Agency.

Dr Saima is the first ever woman office bearer of PPP who is campaigning for the party in FATA. Talking to TNN, she said she would be visiting rest of tribal districts ahead of general elections to convince women voters in favor of PPP.

It is worth mention here that very few women from FATA cast their vote in elections due to cultural barrier and opposition of male candidates and population to the participation of women in the elections.
