PESHAWAR, 11 October: Former president and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said the PPP will merge FATA with KP in its government if the present government failed to do so.
Addressing a workers convention in Peshawar on Tuesday, Asif Zardari said the PPP always raised voice for the rights of FATA people. He said that during the PPP government, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor was appointed from FATA. Mr Zardari also criticised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan. He said Imran Khan was misleading the people of KP.
Meanwhile, the Awami National Party (ANP) said the federal government is likely to accept the demands of extension of judiciary to FATA and giving them seats in the KP Assembly, which will be a huge success for the FATA people.
Asfandyar said in a statement that the sit-in in Islamabad two days ago has paved the way for merger of FATA with KP. He hoped that the federal government will accept the demand of merger soon. He congratulated all the political parties and workers who participated in the Islamabad sit-in.
The ANP chief said the British era black law of Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) will meet its fate once the country’s judiciary get jurisdiction in FATA.
