KARAK, June 10: A man, accused in the cases of robberies, murder and kidnaping for ransom has escaped from the police custody in Karak district.

The police say Mr Abdul Halim had been arrested in December last year and was shifted to the District Headquarter Hospital for treatment on 9 June, wherefrom he absconded.

The accused was being tried at the Karak Anti-Terrorism Court in cases of murders, robberies and kidnaping for ransom.

The Provincial Home Department has formed an inquiry committee to probe his escape from police custody.
