PESHAWAR, 3 November:  District administration of Peshawar has directed the drivers of private vehicles, carrying school children, to submit fitness certificates of their vehicles within 15 days, otherwise action would be taken against them .

According to a press release, the decision was taken in a meeting held between deputy commissioner of Peshawar Riaz Mehsud and officials of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in Peshawar on Monday.

Addressing the meeting Riaz Mehsud said that  that all those drivers who transport school children should check their vehicles from RTA within next fifteen days in order to determine whether their vehicles were fit to drive on roads.

He also directed drivers to remove CNG kits from Suzuki Pick-up vehicles  otherwise stern action would be taken against them.

Parents of school going children have applauded the decision which would ensure safety of their kids. However some drivers complained that they could not afford to buy new vehicles in order to meet all the requirements of RTA.
