Private schools barred from receiving advance fee from students

PESHAWAR: The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) has approved code of conduct for private schools for academic year 2018 under which the schools have been barred from receiving fee from students ahead of summer vacations.

In a statement, PSRA said the private educational institutions can receive half of the fee in advance for summer vacations. The statement added that private educational institutions will not raise fee until formation of a policy for uniform fee structure. It said a student whose brother or sister is already enrolled in a private school will only pay half fee to the school. It further said the private schools will not be entitled to receive transport fee from students during vacations.

However, it is yet to be seen how this code of conduct will be implemented as it has been seen in the past that private education institutions openly violate such directions.

The parents of students have welcomed this development and hoped that it will be implemented in letter and spirit.
