PESHAWAR, October 14: The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has made more than 250 vehicles of the Police Department bulletproof.
The police say the department had requested the provincial government to make their vehicles bullet-proof in view of everyday gun and bomb attacks on the personnel.
The provincial government has fixed steel plates in 53 vehicles of Peshawar Police, 37 of Mardan, 18 of Nowshera, 16 each of Swabi and Charsadda and 13 vehicles of Kohat Police. In addition, the police in certain other areas have also been handed over bulletproof vehicles.
These vehicles include 204 single cabin and 52 double-cabin datsuns. The police say special squads will use the protected vehicles in operations.
The police have been on hit-list during the ongoing situation of militancy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Several policemen have been shot dead in various parts of the province.
