PESHAWAR, 4 November: The representatives of Doctor Khan Tehreek, a non-governmental organisation, on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration in Peshawar against non-provision of education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pashto medium.

The protesters gathered in front of Peshawar Press Club on the occasion of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s visit to Peshawar. The protesters were also wearing Imran Khan’s masks. They demanded the government to provide education to students in their mother’s language.

Abid Munir, head of the organisation, told TNN that the KP government has decided to provide education in English medium which is unacceptable to them.

“All the developed countries in the world provide education to children in their mother language. We demand the government to provide all kind of education i.e. religious, social or economic education in mother tongue. Other languages, like Urdu and English should only be taught as languages, and should not be made medium of education,” Mr Munir said.
