PESHAWAR: Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets in a match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Dubai on Saturday.
Gladiators after winning the toss invited Zalmi to bat first and restricted them to 157 runs. Dwayne Smith scored 49 runs for Zalmi, while Captain Darren Sammy scored 36 and Muhammad Hafeez and MH Wessels scored 31 runs each. Shane Watson took two wickets, while Rahat Ali, Ben Laughlin and Muhammad Nawaz took one wicket each.
A 74-run partnership between skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and Rilee Rossouw ensured win of Gladiators. Gladiators completed the chase in 19.2 overs as Sarfaraz scored 45 and Rossouw smashed a knock of 30 runs. Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, Umaid Asif and Liam Dawson took one wicket each.
Sarfaraz Ahmed was declared player of the match.
Quetta are now at top of the points table, followed by Islamabad United, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans. Peshawar have gone to fifth position after a decent start to the season. They are followed by Lahore Qalandars on the last position.
In the earlier match of the day, Karachi Kings defeated Multan Sultans.
In today’s (Sunday) match, Lahore Qalandars will face Karachi Kings.
