PESHAWAR: The leader of Pakhtoon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) Manzoor Pashteen has contracted coronavirus.
In a statement on social media website Facebook, Manzoor Pashteen said his coronavirus test came back as positive on Wednesday. However, he said, he had quarantined himself at his home five days ago after attending the funeral prayer of PTM leader Arif Wazir.
The PTM chief said he is feeling better now and he hopes that he will recover from the disease soon. He appealed to his other friends to adopt precautionary measures to avoid the spread of coronavirus. He said anyone showing symptoms of fever must quarantine themselves for few days.
Apart from Manzoor Pashteen, the coronavirus test of the PTM Member National Assembly from South Waziristan Ali Wazir has also come back as positive. He is in quarantine at his home for few days after he was diagnosed with the virus.
Ali Wazir had also said in a statement that he was feeling better now. He had requested all the friends who met him at the funeral of Arif Wazir and during Fatiha that they must adopt precautionary measures and quarantine themselves if they show symptoms.
Shah Faisal Afridi, a member of the PTM, also died of coronavirus few days ago.
KP minister recovers
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjid Ali has recovered from coronavirus.
The minister said in a statement that he could not serve the people due to 14-day quarantine. He said he will continue the public service with the same spirit and zeal after recovery from the disease.
Dr Amjid Ali appealed the people to follow precautionary measures and adopt social distancing to avoid the spread of coronavirus. He also thanked the well wishers for their prayers.
Besides Dr Amjid Ali, coronavirus has affected other lawmakers as well. So far National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Members National Assembly Gul Zafar Khan (from Bajaur), Munir Orakzai (from Kurram), KP CM’s Adviser on Local Government Kamran Bangash and Members KP Assembly Shafiq Sher Afridi and Abdul Salam have been infected.
Asad Qaiser, Kamran Bangash, Abdul Salam and Munir Orakzai have recovered from the disease and others are still in quarantine.
