MARDAN, 9 November: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Tehsil Councillor in Mardan Arif Mardanvi, who is a suspect in Mashal Khan murder case, has been disqualified after fake votes were found in the recounting of votes.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Saleem Toru has been declared successful on the seat from Muslim Abad constituency. Recounting of votes was conducted on the application of Saleem Toru. In the recounting, 84 votes of Arif turned out to be bogus after which his valid votes were reduced to 1,660, while Saleem got 1,699 votes.

Arif Mardnvi is wanted to police in the murder case of Mashal Khan, a student of Abdul Wali Khan University.
