PESHAWAR, 9 November: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday expelled Member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Amjad Afridi from the party and reprimanded some other party lawmakers over charges of working against the party interests in the recently held local bodies polls in KP.

The PTI Senator Azam Swati, MNA Sheharyar Afridi, MPAs Ziaullah Bangash, Yousaf Arif and Yasin Khalil were strongly reprimanded for going against the party lines in the local bodies polls.

The PTI disciplinary committee, headed by Shah Mehmood Qureshi and including Naeemul Haq, Fazal Khan and Saifullah Niazi made these decisions after several weeks of investigation.

Amjad Afridi has been expelled from the party for his irresponsible conduct, which led to defeat of the PTI candidate in Kohat. Amjad Afridi was serving as adviser to the chief minister for sports and culture. Yousaf Arif and Ziaullah Bangash also received reprimands over charges of irresponsible conduct.

The PTI committee believed that Sheharyar Afridi along with Amjad Afridi and Ziaullah Afridi had supported the PML-N candidate against the party nominee for the district nazim slot in Kohat.

In Mansehra, Azam Swati was accused of not supporting the PTI candidate for the district nazim election after he failed to get ticket for his nephew.

Yasin Khalil was reprimanded for allegedly preventing the party councillors from voting for the party candidate. He will not be given any post in the government as well as in the party in future for his behaviour damaging the party’s interest.
