PESHAWAR, 1 June: The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) has got clear lead in the local bodies polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to unofficial results, the PTI has secured victory on 280 district council and 232 tehsil council seats in the province.

The Awami National Party (ANP) has gained victory on 91 district council and 55 tehsil council seats, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has secured 74 district council and 85 tehsil council seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won 83 district council and 55 tehsil council seats, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) gained success on 44 district council and 13 tehsil council seats, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) won 14 district council and 13 tehsil council seats and independent candidates won 173 district and 48 tehsil council seats.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) has grabbed second position in the KP polls by securing 115 seats each in the district and tehsil councils.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will announce final results of the KP local bodies elections on 7 June.
