PESHAWAR, 24 August: A grand tribal jirga of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the proposed reforms package for the federal administered tribal areas and demanded that tribal agencies should immediately be merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The grand jirga was held at the Peshawar press club on Wednesday in which PTI leaders from all tribal agencies participated.

The tribal leaders unanimously vowed that they would not accept anything less than Fata’s merger into KP.

The speakers demanded that instead of replacing the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) with Fata Good Governance Regulation (FGGR), the government should enforce the 1973’s Constitution in Fata which is already in vogue all over the country.

“The government should refrain from any such legislation which will ultimately become a source of regret for the government and people of Fata,” Jalal-u-Din, a PTI leader from Bajuar remarked while talking to TNN.

The government would do injustice with the people of Fata if the proposed reforms package was implemented, another tribal elder remarked.
