SHANGLA, 18 November: The earthquake affected people in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday staged protest demonstration against the government over not getting compensation for damages.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Main Chowk in the district headquarters Alpuri and Poran and chanted slogans against the district administration and local elected representatives. They said they have not been given tents and compensation cheques after the 26 October earthquake.

The protesters alleged that the patwaris (revenue officials) are giving ration and compensation cheques to the people of their own choice, while the deserve people are kept deprived.

On the other hand, 10 fake earthquake affected people have been arrested in Shangla. They were arrested while receiving relief items by using unfair means.
