PARACHINAR: The Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Kurram chapter has announced to support former Member National Assembly from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sajid Hussain Turi in the upcoming general elections scheduled to be held on 25 July.

Sajid Turi is contesting election on NA-46 constituency of Kurram tribal district. The QWP district chairman Irshad Turi, secretary general Gulzar Hussain and other leaders said while addressing a press conference at Parachinar Press Club on Saturday that the QWP activists will not only vote for Sajid Turi, but also run his election campaign.

Sajid Turi thanked the QWP leaders for support and hailed the efforts of the party chief Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao for reforms in erstwhile Fata. He claimed that he broke the 60-year record of development work in his constituency during the last 10 years and vowed to continue his development efforts if he returned successful again.

Ali Begum, the first-ever woman candidate from Fata, is also contesting the election from the same constituency having 168,868 voters. Ali Begum has received a rousing welcome in the constituency over her bold step and is likely to pose challenge to Sajid Turi besides other candidates of the mainstream parties like the PTI and MMA. The PTI has awarded ticket to Syed Iqbal Mian from the constituency.
