PESHAWAR, 30 October: Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan has demanded of the government to re-conduct the census in Fata as its population has been shown less than its original number.

Addressing party workers on foundation day of the party, he said that population of Fata was more than 20 million while it was shown less than five million.

He said that all stakeholders were in favour of Fata’s merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and asked the government to expedite process of Fata Reforms.

QWP chief said that time has come to give the tribal people their constitutional rights. “Pakhtuns could not be kept separated anymore through such imaginary lines. Time has come to bring them into mainstream and give them their basic rights,” he said.

He said that keeping such a large number of population away from education would not let the country to develop and urged the federal government to not pay heed to those who were against the merger.

On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has also speeded up its movement to block merger of Fata with KP.

Party chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman along with party leadership has met on Sunday and decided to convene Fata Grand Jirga to decide future course of action.
