PESHAWAR, 11 May: Former senator Rafique Rajwana has taken oath as new Punjab governor.

A ceremony in this connection was arranged at the Governor House in Lahore yesterday which was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other political leaders. Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Malik Manzoor Ahmed administered oath from Mr Rajwana.

Talking to media persons after taking oath, the governor said he will pay special attention to the problems of South Punjab.

The office of the Punjab governor was laying vacant after former governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar resigned from the post in January. Mr Sarwar later joined the PTI.
