PESHAWAR, 13 October: US President Donald Trump Thursday termed the operation by Pakistan security forces for release of a hostage US-Canadian family in Kurram Agency a positive movement for the US-Pak relations.
Trump said in a statement issued from White House that Thursday’s operation was a proof that Pakistan was honouring the US wishes for better security in the region. He said the US hopes that Pakistan will continue similar cooperation and team work for the release of the remaining hostages and operations against militancy.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the US embassy in Islamabad told a foreign news agency that the US welcomes the release of a US-Canadian family in an operation by the Pakistani security forces.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the US intelligence agencies were searching this kidnapped family since long. It said the hostage family was released after a successful operation on intelligence provided by the US officials.
The ISPR said American Caitlan Coleman and her Canadian husband, Joshua Boyle were kidnapped in Afghanistan in 2012. They had three children while in captivity. The kidnappers were demanding release of three jailed militants for the release of the kidnapped family.
The ISPR said Pakistan is committed to continue operations against the common enemy.
