PESHAWAR, 24 November: Authorities on Tuesday recovered tons of relief goods meant for the affectees of military operations and natural disasters and Afghan refugees from private godowns in Chamkani area of the provincial metropolis.
The additional assistant commissioner Peshawar Ahmad Kamal told TNN that the raid was made after receiving complaints from the locals that relief goods meant for the affectees of military operations, natural disasters and Afghan refugees had been dumped in private godowns in Chamkani area.
“Fifteen godowns are sealed and more than 4000 bags of edibles including rice, pulses, sugar, ghee containers and other relief items are recovered,” Kamal informed. He further said that three persons were arrested from the spot and FIR was lodged against them.
“Instead of distributing these goods among the affectees, the unscrupulous elements have been selling these in black market after changing their bags,” added Kamal.
