TANK, September 24: Local residents have protested massive electricity loadshedding in Tank district by blocking all major roads and educational institutions for some time.
At a rally on Kashmir Road, the protesters said that excessive loadshedding had affected their businesses and that they were nowadays bringing water from far-flung areas.
They said that if the loadshedding duration was not reduced, they would stage more protests.
One of the demonstrators told TNN, “The city areas are subjected to about 16 hours loadshedding while the rural areas are facing a total blackout. We request the authorities to resolve the issue and we assure to pay our power bills on time.”
Another resident said, “We are facing water shortage due to loadshedding, which has affected all other activities too. If the loadshedding was not reduced, we will protest campaign,” he added.
Later, the protesters dispersed after Deputy Commissioner of Tank, Mr Ahmad Khan Wazir, promised to solve their problem.
