DI KHAN, 04 December: Residents of Dewali locality on Sunday staged a protest demonstration outside the residence of provincial minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur against poor sanitation system in their area.

The protesters were of the view that the minister had approved Rs20 million for the construction of sewerage drain. They added that a contractor had started work on the project but later he abandoned the project incomplete due to which the situation became further worsen.

They complained that since the old drain was broken, the stagnant drain water overflowed on roads and streets turning them into ponds of water creating problems for pedestrians and motorists.

They further stated that the pools of stagnant water on roads had been causing bad smell in the area.

“We have almost abandoned using these streets and roads due to the clogged drains. We are forced to use faraway routes,” said a local resident Moeen while talking to TNN.

“We appeal to the PTI leadership and senior government officials to have mercy on the poor residence and construct the drainage system as we have been facing multiple problems,” complained another resident Siddique.

the provincial minister did not comment on the matter, however his brother Umar Amin Gandapur, who is tehsil nazim, assured the protesters that the issue would be resolved soon.
