PESHAWAR, 03 June: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that charges of rigging in the recent local government elections are aimed at maligning his government.

“Those behind this plan would soon be exposed,” the CM said addressing media-persons here today. He rejected all the rigging allegations levelled against his party, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI). He said that he had already informed the Election Commission about deficiency of police force. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had also passed a resolution, seeking Army deployment in the election, but the Election Commission did not pay any heed to it. He went on to add that the provincial government had also requested the Election Commission to hold elections in phases.
