KHAR, August 25: A tribal jirga, with collaboration of local administration, has resolved an enmity between two rival groups in Bajaur Agency.

TNN correspondent says two people, one each from two groups, were killed when the families of Mr Shah Wali Khan and Mr Bakhtawar exchanged fire over land dispute in Ghakhai area of Mamond tehsil a few months ago.

Local elders resolved the dispute at a jirga on 24 August. Tehsildar of Mamond area, Mr Abdul Haseeb, said enmities affect peace in the region.

An elder at the jirga, Malik Taj, told TNN that tribesmen should resolve all their issues through talks and jirgas.

“Enmity always results in physical and property losses. We have been trying to bring about reconciliation between the two families for last several months. Thank God, both the groups have patched things up,” he added.
