PESHAWAR, 19 December: The federal government said on Friday that Rs48 billion have been allocated for withdrawal of the army from FATA and deployment of local armed forces there.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told the National Assembly that a committee to introduce reforms in FATA has also initiated its work. He said the parliament will be taken into confidence over any decision about the future of FATA.
Meanwhile, MNA from Kurram Agency Sajid Turi said about Chaudhry Nisar’s speech that they have been told that the army will withdraw from the tribal areas. He said Levies personnel will be deployed in FATA after withdrawal of the army. “The FC personnel will also be given the responsibility of maintaining law and order in FATA. We want the reforms process in the tribal areas to complete as soon as possible. We are waiting for the report of FATA Reforms Committee and decision of the Parliament in this regard,” Mr Turi told TNN.
