PESHAWAR, October 31: The opposition and treasury benches in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly exchanged harsh words when leader of the opposition Maulana Lutfur Rehman criticized the Islamabad sit-ins of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf.

Female members of the ruling party protested against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman’s remarks that PTI stages a “daily dance show of women during sit-in in Islamabad.”

The house then echoed with “Go Nawaz Go!” and “Ro Imran Ro!” (cry Imran cry) slogans.

Minister for Public Works Shah Farman and MPA Fazal Elahi of the PTI tried to reach the opposition benches and engaged in a physical scuffle. The security staff, however, stopped them in the assembly.

Speaking to reporters outside the assembly hall, Mr Farman said the opposition leader used derogatory remarks against PTI’s women workers who he said were protesting against the poll rigging.
