MARDAN: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said the rulers have destroyed the economy of the country and inflation is out of control due to continuous decrees in the value of Pakistani rupee.

Addressing a ‘million march’ of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) in Mardan, Fazlur Rehman said 18th constitutional amendment ensured provincial autonomy, however, some elements with dictatorial minds are now planning to reverse this amendment and bring a presidential system. He said such elements are trying to destroy the system. He said the JUI-F has pledged to protect the Constitution and it will fulfil its pledge come what may.

The Maulana said the person who preferred suicide over receiving debts is now receiving Rs15 billion loan every day and he has indebted the nation under a massive burden. He alleged that the present rulers are failing the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project over foreign dictates. He said the changes in the foreign policy of Pakistan are dangerous for the future of the country.

Fazlur Rehman said for the first time people in the Parliament are talking about recognising Israel. He said recognition of Israel cannot be materialised until a single worker of the JUI-F is alive. The Maulana said the country is passing through a very difficult time. He said the ‘fake government’ will never be accepted and the JUI-F campaign against the government will continue. The JUI-F chief added that a former prime minister and opposition politicians were put behind bars before the general elections to pave the way for the victory of the PTI.

He said the next rallies of the JUI-F will be held in Sindh and Balochistan. He said the rulers will run for cover if the JUI-F decided to march on Islamabad.

Fazlur Rehman claimed that the participation of a large number of people in the march showed that the government had lost the trust of the masses. He said his party would not allow the implementation of any foreign agenda contrary to the teachings of Islam.

Mufti Kifayatullah, Maulana Shah Owais Noorani, Rashid Mahmood Soomro, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, Akram Khan Durrani, Maulana Amanat Shah, Maulana Shujaul Mulk, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, and others also addressed the gathering.
