PESHAWAR: Salahuddin Mehsud has been posted again as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for a second term.

The Establishment Division on Friday said Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has been posted as KP police chief, while his predecessor Muhammad Tahir has been posted as IGP Punjab. Muhammad Tahir was posted as KP police chief before the 25 July general elections as part of measures to ensure free and fair polls.

Salahuddin was first appointed KP IGP in March last year after retirement of Nasir Durrani. He had earlier headed the Special Branch and the Counter-Terrorism Department of the KP Police as additional inspector general. He is expected to face a tough challenge to continue reforms agenda in the provincial police and extending the jurisdiction of KP Police to tribal districts.
