NOWSHERA, 19 November: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Samiul Haq Saturday asked the federal government to merge FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without further delay.

Talking to a delegation of FATA Youth Jirga, which called on him at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak, Samiul Haq said merger with KP and abolition of Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) was a long standing demand of the FATA people. He said the FCR was a black law which was against the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. He said punishing the whole tribe for the crime of a single person was unjust and against basic rights.

The Maulana said the government should announce seats for FATA in KP Assembly and give it share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award before the 2018 general elections. He said that JUI-S had already made arrangements for holding a meeting on FATA-KP merger on 7 December.
