LANDIKOTAL, 1 October: Around 300 girls are deprived of their right to education after the only community school in far flung Painda Lalma area of Khyber Agency was closed. Local residents appealed the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata Education Department to reopen the school.

Local elders Zahirullah Mulagori and Khushal Khan told Tribal News Network that a community school named after Haji Shah Alam was opened in the area.

They said that the school was started in 1998 under an agreement that the school would be permanent and would not be closed.

They said that at the time of closure around 300 girls were enrolled while a two-room building was also constructed after land was donated to it.

They said that the school was closed in 2014, depriving their daughters of their rights to education, adding that other schools were too far to enroll their daughters in it.

They appealed Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Director Education Fata to reopen the school so that their daughters could get education.
