TIMERGARA, June 21: The Child Protection and Welfare Commission, which is a wing of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Social Welfare Department, organised a seminar about child rights and safety in Lower Dir district headquarters here.

Local elders and officials of the department attended the seminar titled “Community Dialogue”.

On the occasion, speakers said local residents must identify orphans and street children to the organisation.

They were also asked to provide social support to the organisation to admit child labourers to schools.

Child Protection Officer in Lower Dir, Mr Saifullah, told TNN, “During the last six months, we provided assistance to 200 children, of whom 180 children were provided school items like uniform, school bags and others to enable them to go to schools. We also enrolled five to six child labourers at schools.”
