PESHAWAR, 14 October: A seminar in connection with the World Mental Health Day was organised at Khyber Medical College on Tuesday.

Head of Psychiatric Department of Khyber Teaching Hospital Professor Dr Syed Muhammad Sultan, mental health experts and students attended the seminar. Speakers said on the occasion that the number of psychiatric patients is on the raise in Pakistan. They said according to a survey about 34 percent people of the country are affected from different mental diseases. They emphasised the need for adopting simplicity in lifestyle to avoid mental diseases.

The speakers also said special attention should be given to the mental health of elderly people as they are valuable asset of the society.

Dr Sultan said people should live with peace and love to ensure a happy life. “Respect for the feelings of others will also increase your respect in society. This will create a peaceful and respectable society which will help in resolving our personal and social problems,” he said.
