MARDAN, 15 October: A seminar on rights of eunuchs and their problems was organised in Mardan on Wednesday.
The seminar was arranged by a non-governmental organisation, Blue Veins at Mardan Press Club which was attended by representatives of the NGO, eunuchs and other people in large number.
Head of the NGO, Qamar Nasim said on the occasion that such programmes will create awareness among eunuchs about their basic rights like quota in jobs, healthcare and legislation about their rights. A eunuch, Naina told TNN that they face many difficulties while accessing basic facilities despite legislation in this regard.
“We are peaceful people, but people don’t let us live in peace. We grow up hearing taunts that we are not normal human beings,” the eunuch said.
“We face difficulties in obtaining our identity cards. No one has sympathy with us and everyone taunts us right from our homes to schools and everywhere,” Naina said. The eunuch added that they had been punished for a guilt over which they have no control.
