PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Railways has announced to provide free travel facility to senior citizens above 65 years of age across the country during Eidul Fitr holidays.
The facility will be available for senior citizens during first three days of Eid holidays i.e. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the state-run radio reported. Caretaker Minister for Railways Roshan Khursheed Bharucha said that the facility has been announced as an Eid gift to the passengers across the country to facilitate them to reach their destinations.
The minister said the officials of the Pakistan Railways will make sure implementation of the order and availing of the facility by maximum number of passengers. She said the Pakistan Railways was committed to provide safe and quick mode of journey to the country’s masses.
Earlier, the Pakistan Railways announced five special trains to facilitate people planning to travel for Eid.
The passenger trains will initiate Eid operation tomorrow (Tuesday) with 30 percent discounted fares. Additional coaches will also be attached to other trains to accommodate maximum passengers.
In Pakistan, many people prefer travel by train for long distances.
