Sources said the accused Murad took seven-year-old Aleena to a shop on a promise that he will give him a doll and a pigeon and raped her inside the shop. The girl upon reaching home told her family about the incident. The little girl was taken to hospital where medical reports confirmed that she was sexually abused.
On the complaint of mother of the victim girl, Hoti Police Station filed a case against the accused. The accused has been arrested and he is being interrogated by police.
Two days ago, a task force constituted by the Federal Ombudsman to diagnose systematic issue of child abuse presented a horrific picture pinpointing failure of the concerned authorities in stopping such crimes.
The task force was formed after horrific rape and murder of seven-year-old Zenab in Kasur. The report of the task force mentioned that 4,139 cases of sexual abuse were reported in Pakistan in 2017 which is an alarming figure. It recommended strengthening of the organisations working for stopping child abuse and equipping them with all facilities. It recommended increased level of awareness among children, students, parents and teachers to avoid such threats. Need for enactment of strict laws and some amendments in the existing laws was also emphasised for reducing such crimes.
