PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has nominated former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information minister Shah Farman as new governor of the province.

Media reports quoting sources said decision to this effect was made at a meeting chaired by Imran Khan at his Banigala residence in Islamabad on Friday. KP Chief Minister-designate Mehmood Khan, former chief minister Pervaiz Khattak, Muhammad Atif Khan, Shahram Tarakai and Shah Farman attended the meeting.

Shah Farman was among the contenders to become new chief minister of KP, but Imran eventually decided to appoint him as governor.

It was decided in the meeting that Shahram Tarakai will get the portfolio of health, science and technology, while Atif Khan will get portfolio of education and energy. During the meeting, Pervaiz Khattak and Atif Khan also reconciled after tug-of-war on the issue of chief ministership of KP.

In another meeting, KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was nominated as next speaker of the National Assembly and Chaudhry Sarwar was nominated as next Punjab governor.
