BARA, 28 September: Shaheen Shah Afridi, a fast bowler from Khyber Agency, has made a record of getting most wickets on first-class debut.
Shaheen Afridi represented Khan Research Laboratories in his debut match in Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, the premier domestic tournament of Pakistan, and achieved the record against Rawalpindi on Wednesday. He got eight wickets by conceding just 39 runs in the second innings and broke the 43-year-old record of Nadeem Malik. Nadeem Malik had got eight wickets on his debut by conceding 58 runs.
Shaheen Afridi has also signed a two-year contract with Dhaka Dynamites, one of the leading franchises of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Mushtaq Ahmed, head coach of National Cricket Academy, discovered him during an under-16 talent hunt programme of the Pakistan Cricket Board and trained him further.
