PESHAWAR: A three-day Shandur Polo Festival will be started on July 7 in Chitral District. According to Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, all necessary arrangements have been finalized for holding the festival in a befitting manner. Polo teams from Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral will participate in the festival.
Chitral won the last polo tournament by defeating Gilgit team by 13-7 goals. Shandur Polo Festival is one of the big festivals in Pakistan. This festival is held in the month of July every year on Shandur Top in Chitral. The polo match is played between the teams of Chitral District and districts of Gilgit Baltistan.
Different cultural programs will be arranged in the festival including paragliding, food stalls, music and traditional dances to promote tourism in the area. Similarly, a special tent village will also be set up to facilitate local and foreign tourists.
