DIR, 17 November: Residents of Sharingal tehsil of district Upper Dir have been facing acute shortage of clean drinking water.

Ihsanullah, a resident of Samang Kali told TNN that there is no tube well for clean drinking water in the entire village of about 3000 population. He added that women and children fetch water from a spring which is three kilometer away from their village.

“The villagers have appealed to the concerned quarters on different forums but nobody bothered to address the problem,” he said.

A member of the local tehsil council Shakirullah said that he had also requested the Member of National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah and Member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Muhammad Ali to address the problem and both the lawmakers had pledged to resolve it.

“I have also sent a letter to the Chief Minister and requested him to approve a tube well for the village,” he added.
