LANDIKOTAL, October 25: Solar energy units for eight tube-wells have been inaugurated in Khyber Agency. The project cost 40 million rupees.
The project plan was inaugurated by Al-Haj Shah Jee Gul, the member National Assembly from Khyber Agency, in Landikotal tehsil.
On the occasion, Shah Jee Gul said that one tube-well will facilitate around 200 houses. Previously, the water problem used to arise because of the electricity loadshedding. However, the local residents have showed contentment with the project plan.
A local tribesman, Mr Arshad, told TNN that the project would solve the water shortage problem to a great extent.
“Since the construction of solar-powered tube-wells, we feel at ease as far as the water need is concerned. Previously, people had to face shortage of water during electricity outages. Now the water is available to us even if there is loadshedding for 18 consecutive hours,” he added.
