PESHAWAR: Four terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan tribal district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

The security forces conducted the operation on a hideout of terrorists near Kaitu River, north-west of Spinwam, North Waziristan, late on Saturday night. According to ISPR, terrorists opened fire on the troops in an effort to flee from the area. However, all the terrorists were killed by security forces.

During exchange of fire, Pakistan Army’s Sepoy Sadam embraced martyrdom, while two soldiers were injured.

Militants were driven out from the tribal districts in military operations, but still terrorists sometimes attack the security forces from their leftover hideouts. The security forces also conduct IBOs after receiving credible information about presence of militants to ward off any threat of attacks.

On November 19, two soldiers were martyred in an attack by the militants in South Waziristan tribal district on Wednesday, police said.

Reports said a team of the security forces was on routine patrol in Pash Ziarat area when some unidentified terrorists opened indiscriminate firing. Two soldiers, identified as Havaldar Matloob and Sepoy Suleman were martyred in the attack.

On October 15, six soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on their convoy in North Waziristan tribal district.

According to the ISPR, terrorists attacked a convoy of the security forces with an IED near Razmak, North Waziristan. Six soldiers, including an officer, embraced Shahadat in the attack.

On October 09, a soldier embraced martyrdom and another sustained injuries in an attack of militants in South Waziristan.

According to official sources, the security forces came under a rocket attack in Musa Karam area of Ladha tehsil. A patrolling party of the security forces came under rocket attack in which Sepoy Rasool embraced martyrdom and Sepoy Habib sustained injuries.

On October 04, two terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, ISPR said in a statement.

“Security forces conducted IBO in Mir Ali, North Waziristan. (Two) hardcore terrorists (were) killed and one terrorist (was) apprehended,” the ISPR said.

On October 02, the security forces foiled a major terrorist activity and gunned down two terrorists during an IBO in Boya area.
